A son kills mother

Nadejda SisauriA 52-year-old son killed his 85-year-old mother in Tbilisi on January 21. The murder was committed in Qvemo Fonichala district, Sadguri Street #57a.

According to official information from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the victim, Nadzezda Sisauri, had several injuries on her face and had her throat cut with a blunt object, perhaps an ax. The suspect Zauri Sisauri was drunk. He himself called the police and said: “Help me, I killed my mother.”.

According to the neighbors, when the police and ambulance entered the home, the victim’s body was already covered with white sheets. The suspect did not resist the police and was arrested at the home.

Those neighbors said the mother and son lived in socially hard conditions. The walls of the flat were nearly collapsed. There had been frequent arguments between the suspect and the victim recently. They said the mother had health problems and the son was addicted to alcohol.

Case is closed when a murder-suicide happens

“Life itself and interrelation with people – these were her hobbies. She was a very cheerful and energetic person, very warm,” recalls Nino Mchedlishvili, a friend of 40-year-old Manana Zubiashvili, who was found dead in her house on Radiani Street in Tbilisi on April 3, 2012.

This case of femicide was dropped in accordance with Article 105, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Procedure Code without reaching the court a few weeks after the incident took place. The conclusion of the investigation was especially tough for family members and friends, who are having a hard time believing that the victim was killed by her husband, who then committed suicide.

“The door was closed. No one was answering. All kind of bad things started coming to mind. So her friends called the police,” remembers Mariam, 45, a neighbor, who accidentally appeared at the scene when the victim's family and friends were trying to find her after she didn’t appear at work or answer their calls. At about 2 pm, Vato Sepiashvili, the victim's son who also worked with her at Radio Fortuna, became worried and went to check after his mother. Sepiashvili and several co-workers found his mother and her husband dead from gun wounds after police opened the doors.

According to the Republican Hospital resuscitation department head Nicholas Kvachadze, death was caused by brain injuries incompatible with life. “There were multiple gunshot wounds. Based on the test results, there were life-threatening wounds. The patient was taken to the operating area, but because of the difficult situation the operation couldn’t be held,” said Kvachadze.

There might would be no discussion about her cause of death, except for one fact - money and gold jewelry that Avlokhashvili was keeping at home was missing, according to her husband. "She bought some golden things recently and showed us.
