Within the framework of the project Tracking Violent Crimes Against Women, which is financed and supported by the European Union, on August 20, 2018, the representatives of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs held meeting/discussion and a presentation of the project web-portal at the building of Mestia Municipality, Svaneti.
The meeting was attended by the locals with the representatives of media, self-government, police, social service and health professionals among them.
The presentation was held with the support of the Mayor of Mestia Municipality, Kakha Zhorzholiani and Majoritarian Gocha Enukidze.
After the discussion, the representatives of the project held a meeting with the Mayor. Zhorzholiani talked about the peculiarities of Svan traditions, noted the woman's significant role in a traditional Svan family and as well as in modern social life. According to Mayor, women are in the majority in terms of gender distribution on the decision-making positions in his office.
