GIPA announces competition for the best Transmedia Project on the topic of violence against women.
Competition and prize has been announced withing the project Tracking Violent Crime against women. Project is financed and supported by the EU.
Transmedia project should be published from November 1 2017 till November 1 2018.
The awarding ceremony for the best transmedia project on violence against women will be held on January 21.
The jury will reveal the winners of works created on the topic presented in the contest. Authors of the best works will be awarded with prizes. The prize fund is 500 euros.
Evaluating criteria: The jury evaluation criteria are: the importance of the issue, quality of research and difficulty, originality, the effort, the style of story. The goal of the report is to influence the citizens, so that they become more informed and make more informed decisions about violent crimes. Information should meet needs of those affected by violent crime and society as a whole. Coverage should not be exaggerating and sensational that increases fear and gender stereotypes among the public.
Report should approach the incident with caution, sensitivity and tact. Report should help to heighten the awareness of the problem, the quality and in-depth coverage is required. Provision of the information about the warning signs of violence should be encouraged. Report should show the significant knowledge of legal terms of the crime. Report should take into account cultural specifics of society: special attention should be paid to the most vulnerable and the least protected groups (ethnic communities, IDP’s, migrants).
About the Project
The project Tracking Violent Crimes against Women is implemented by the Georgian
Institute of Public Affairs with the support of the European Union and aims at four
general objectives:
The main concept of the project is to create a web-site: www.femicide.ge to spotlight underreported crime cases against women including marginalized and vulnerable groups, collect and analyze data and raise awareness about the violence and it’s contributing factors.
